That’s all pretty familiar territory to online gamers, but the hook is how Spotify will use this space to host unique moments between artists and fans. The tokens you collect can be exchanged for in-game content, such as emotes and cosmetic changes to your avatar. The basic gameplay of Spotify Island is to parkour your way around a digital island paradise, collecting heart-shaped tokens, finding hidden easter eggs, and interacting with other players at beat-making stations. The game allows players to engage with user-generated content, mainly in the form of mini-games players can create and share. If those rumored Rare games turn out to be true, I feel like GoldenEye 007 would fit nicely somewhere on that list. Of course, this isn’t anything official, but it’s exciting to think about. I just hope Nintendo doesn’t bump up the subscription cost if and when Game Boy games join the online service. Based on this discovery though, it could very well mean Game Boy will fill that slot. There have been rumors that Game Boy and Game Boy Color games could come to the Switch Online service at some point, but we still haven’t heard anything official yet. NES is #1, SNES is #2, N64 is #3, and Sega Genesis is #5, leaving #4 open for an unannounced console. If that wasn’t enough, the datamine also reveals that the first number of each game ID corresponds to their console. I don’t even know where to start guessing with that library. With only 14 games available right now, there are still a ton of Sega games to look forward to. What’s also interesting is that according to Mondo’s discovery, there are currently 52 placeholder slots on the Sega Genesis side of the Expansion Pack. There have also been reports that certain Rare titles such as Diddy Kong Racing and Killer Instinct Gold will join the expansion, so you could try to see where they fit into the mix as well. The only games between Mario Kart 64 and Mario Tennis could be Mario Party 1– 3, so it’s a safe bet to say that they will be added. With those 16 games filled in, you can start to breakdown the extensive N64 library to figure out which other games will make an appearance. Along with the 9 current games available already, Nintendo has announced that The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, Banjo-Kazooie, Pokemon Snap, F Zero X, Mario Golf, Paper Mario, and Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards will be releasing at some point too. Like I said, it’s unclear which games will release, but because the list is in alphabetical order, we can already start to fill in some of the gaps.
